THE CONJURING HOUSE Review for Steam

THE CONJURING HOUSE Review for Steam

Yes, escaping from the manor is a player’s main objective in RYM Games’ The Conjuring House but there is far more to do, and see, than just that. Feelings of suspense, anger, and anxiety will arise as players search to move forward and complete objectives. There is no doubt you will feel flustered and anxious but if you desire for suspense and horror, try your luck with this nightmarish game.

First and foremost, I will declare the default key choices for movement in The Conjuring House were atypical and I had to immediately change them from ZDSQ to traditional AWDS. After making this change I found the gameplay to be very fluid. (TIP: I swapped look-back to Q). Despite the necessity for change, I appreciate the simplicity of the controls. Movement and selection are minimal which allows players to focus solely on objectives which, although seem simple, become quite complicated in the massive mansion. Be careful as you walk through, the house may begin to play tricks on you!

Even better than the gameplay are the graphics; the level of realism is uncanny. Small details like crawling bugs and shadows will send shivers down the spine as players navigate their way through the haunted manor. Because the house is blanketed in darkness, it can become quite eerie. The lightening adds an especially haunting effect on this already chilling environment. Nothing impressed me more than the safe spaces in The Conjuring House which were designed so intricately I couldn’t help but stand in there for a few moments and gawk at the creativity and originality. I’m typically not a fan of physical save spots, however RYM Games successfully implemented this with flawless design concepts and unique concepts.

THE CONJURING HOUSE Review for Steam

One important aspect of The Conjuring House seemed to be the immersion of the player. The attention to player POV is impressive and clever. The blurring of the screen, the sharp camera movement, and the shakiness are only some of the features RYM Games have included that I really noted as significant. Especially during cut-scenes, players will notice moments of high-driven anxiety because of these camera angles and graphic adjustments. This high-quality level of realism in the point of view presented to the player is highly immersive. RYM does a fantastic job facilitating this experience for players.

THE CONJURING HOUSE Review for Steam

Don’t blame us if you can’t sleep at night but I assure with great confidence that The Conjuring House will terrify you in the best way possible. Although your sanity may come into question when you step into the same room thirteen times before finally emerging in an entirely new section of the manor, it is beneficial to the experience. Without this pure psychological torture, The Conjuring House would not cause the mental paralysis it is attempting to. This game is worth buying and will certainly become one of your favorites. If you have the guts, take the challenge and try to withstand the horrors of The Conjuring House. I have a tip though: do not play near any open liquids.
