The Effect of TikTok on the Gaming industry

TikTok has become a world phenomenon, with many finding entertainment from the platform during the pandemic, due to many of us being homebound. The young generation predominantly was what really began the drive of creating their own video content, following additional influencers and content creators that also direct their creations through other social media platforms. What has been noticed particularly in the rise of TikTok, is the large drive of video gamer influencers that have appeared within the past two years alone.

eSports has been the biggest evolution within the world of social media marketing, and has easily shown how a 30 second organically generated content video, has far more power over gaming youths, than any huge marketing campaign has ever had. The TikTok era has reintroduced the world of video gaming to many, with live streaming options and much, much more, competing against competition such as Twitch for example. eSports gambling has also managed to hugely flourish during the period of the pandemic with many leveraging the power of gambling on huge competing competitors within gaming tournaments. Today’s free bet casinos, is a promotional offer that will provide gambling opportunities for those that look for it!

How is TikTok affecting the gaming industry?

TikTok is managing to affect the gaming industry exclusively, due to the amazing engagement and authentic reach towards target groups that are interested in eSports. Simple videos which include small clips of huge gaming brands like League of Legends, Fortnite and so on, have really navigated further traffic towards these platforms. Expanding the reach of video gaming through the power of social media has become more efficient when correlating click through rate, and leads engaged, with very minimal budgets in comparison to larger invested campaigns.

The Effect of TikTok on the Gaming industry

It is a new way to communicate with the audience

There is something much more organic and personal when it comes to using TikTok as a marketing tool. Not only do social media campaigns seem more genuine, but they also involve people just like the target audience-who are invested in gaming and are true gamers themselves. What is a better way to generate organic engagement, then by using an authentic approach that is proven to communicate well with target audiences?

A new wave of influencers

eSports feeling the impact of social media marketing through TikTok have really benefited from how easy the algorithm is at the moment for hitting large numbers and views. Other social media platforms like Instagram are so heavily invested within the financial profits and revenues, that campaigns within the platform have become rather generic and rather flat-ungenuine so to speak. A TikTok follower who happens to have a larger audience of 1 million followers for example, is generating similar leads to their following base. However, due to Instagram’s heavy algorithm and ranking system, social media campaigns struggle to even achieve half of that exponential power and ranking. TikTok has proven to be the greater power here-without a second doubt.

Some of the most popular eSport influencers at the moment within TikTok are the following:

  • Tyler ‘Ninja’ Blevins – 7.4m followers
  • Brian ‘FaZe Rug’ Awadis – 8.4m followers
  • Pokimane – 6.1m followers
  • Frazier ‘Kay’ Kay – 2.5m followers

These influencers are receiving many direct partnerships and brands from eSport institutions themselves, including brands such as Fnatic, Excel Esports and Hyper X. This doesn’t include additional gambling eSport institutions either, who are investing large amounts of money into the wave of influencer marketing through TikTok. With the positive leads generated through the current algorithms of TikTok, Tiktok will continue to be the superpower of 2022, undoubtedly. Leaving other social media powers like Instagram and Facebook, frantically trying to keep up.
