The Last of Us No Return Mode Has Me Excited

The Last of Us Part II Remastered is set to release on January 19th for $49.99. If you haven’t played it, then now is a good time to pick it up considering it’s going to include 3 deleted levels, developer commentary, and a new roguelike mode called No Return.

The Last of Us No Return Mode Has Me Excited

After playing the free DLC Valhalla for God of War Ragnarök, I can honestly say that I’m extremely excited about the new game mode. I really enjoyed being able to replay the combat encounters from both I and II in the respective modes. This is really going to scratch the itch of wanting pure combat gameplay. The combat in The Last of Us Part II has always been my favorite part of the game, since the story took a direction I didn’t care much for, and it seemed to drag on just a little too long in some areas. I was ready for something new or something exciting to happen by the end.

As far as I can tell, the mode will be playable offline, which makes me happy. There will be a daily run associated with a leaderboard that requires an internet connection, but that’s all I could gather regarding the internet connection. The downside here is that it will not feature co-operative play. This seems like a big swing-and-a-miss on the developer’s part. I’m hoping it will be added later on in a patch, but I doubt it.
