The most recent gameplay trailer for Mortal Kombat 1: Khaos Reigns, which has sold over 4 million copies globally to far, features Cyrax, one of the six new playable characters coming to the game from Warner Bros. Games. The teaser offers a detailed look at Cyrax’s skills and move set in addition to narrative details that provide light on her special place in the revised Mortal Kombat 1 Universe.
Cyrax is a teenage Lin Kuei warrior from the Zaki clan in Fire God Liu Kang’s New Era. Her extraordinary abilities won her an opportunity to work directly under Sektor. With characteristic energy, she grabbed hold of the opportunity, but her independent streak caused a gap between her and her tutor despite her impressive skills. It’s evident now that Cyrax is still feral and will submit to the Lin Kuei either by her terms or by none at all. The new trailer showcases Cyrax’s explosive moveset, which includes her use of explosives to prolong combos, sawblades for devastating strikes, energy nets to pin opponents down, and cybernetic technology to perform impressive aerial attacks and evasive maneuvers.
The latest video also hints at Cyrax’s vicious finisher, Animality, which lets her transform into a hornet and obliterate her vanquished adversaries. In conjunction with the release of Mortal Kombat 1: Khaos Reigns on September 24, all Mortal Kombat 1 owners will be able to download the much-loved Animalities as a free content upgrade.
