Today Wargaming, developer and publisher of the hit naval combat games, World of Warships and World of Warships: Legends, has revealed it raised $129,757 for Save the Children through a 24-hour Christmas charity livestream. As part of Wargaming’s ongoing partnership with global humanitarian organization, Save the Children, the event held on World of Warships’ official Twitch channel was packed with dozens of activities including Twitch drops, funny challenges, special guests, and games. Funds were also raised from sales of the Christmas Charity Bundle, which Wargaming matched dollar for dollar.
The variety livestream brought together auctions for rare ships and in-game goodies that the audience could take part in, alongside interactive games, quizzes, as well as an action-packed sea battles. The event was hosted by a rotation of World of Warships and World of Warships: Legends staff, who went through a host of comedy challenges all in the name of charity. During the stream, World of Warships players directly donated over $45,000 USD, which, including the charity bundles, was matched by Wargaming with an equal donation.
Those who want to contribute to the grand total can still do so by purchasing the Christmas Charity Bundle, which is still available from the World of Warships Premium Shop the 20th of December and includes a special patch and flag, combined with a bevy of camouflages to jazz up their fleet in World of Warships. All proceeds from the sales will be donated to Save the Children.
This is part of an ongoing partnership between Wargaming and Save the Children, which has seen a total of 217,000 being raised over Christmas charity events over the past 3 years.
