Watch your own back and keep your eyes peeled; the undead lurk in every corner and they’re ready to change you, too. In Saber Interactive’s World War Z, players dive into the world’s haunting post-apocalyptic remnants. Choosing between different weapons and battling alongside teammates, players strategically take down the rabid zombies and fight to survive in this daring third-person shooter. Whether you’re playing the offline co-op mode or taking a plunge in one of the chaotic multiplayer games, hold on to your weapons and get ready for the terrors of World War Z.
Controls are simple, which allows players to focus on strategy rather than movement or aim. And although they do not need much explanation, the proper buttons are displayed on-screen at all-times for player convenience. This is especially helpful in the earlier stages of the game as the player grasps the gameplay, but they can be seen any time through all game modes in the translucent font. Additionally, the objectives are also clearly displayed, with visible instructions when necessary and constant destination markers. This makes World War Z easy to navigate and entirely self-explanatory.
Whether you like it melee or you’re more of a long-range fighter, Saber Interactive has crafted a plethora of classes to provide players with all fighting types. Though players will inevitably find their class niche, which is beneficial for leveling up and unlocking new weapons, I highly suggest trying all the classes! This is especially important when playing the online multiplayer game modes. Experimenting and seeing which classes they think are the most powerful in each game mode will certainly help them come out on top! While they may prefer a certain class in general, that might not be the best in every case. So, feel free to explore! After all, we’re all new here!
Sometimes a huge fear with online PVP games and zombie shooters is the fear there will be a sudden drop of interest after your first round of playing. After all, how much zombie killing can you do until it becomes “meh”? Well, worry not, World War Z isn’t your typical zombie shooter. In fact, it is packed full of a variety of game modes that will keep the player from ever getting bored! Whether you’re an online or offline player, the various gameplay is fast-paced and very entertaining. As a competitive gamer, I was immediately drawn to the online multiplayer game modes. I can say without a doubt I am impressed and fully satisfied with the way these games turned out.
One game mode I particularly enjoyed was, Swarm Domination. In this player-versus-player game mode, the player rallies together with fellow players to defend various vantage points from zombies and other online players. Defending territory, capturing bases, and killing enemies: this game mode has it all and more. I am seriously impressed and guarantee players will be as well.
The fast-paced vibe of World War Z is addictive and just might make your heart skip a beat. Before they know it, players will be drowning in the chaotic terror of Saber Interactive’s third-person shooter, terrified by the realism and enchanted by the concept. If they’re lucky enough they might survive this zombie-infested world but if they’re not, they may become one themselves.
Score: 9.6

PC Review
My name is Haylee, but everyone calls me "Haylz". Gaming has been a passion of mine since my grandma bought me The Sims for PC and my love for gaming flourished from there. Currently, I'm a Senior studying English at Texas A&M University- Corpus Christi and spend most of my time gaming and leading my school through collegiate competitions as President of the eSports club! Despite being a dedicated vegetarian, my favorite games tend to be First Person Shooters and I'm naturally drawn to blood and gore! Chances are, if you can kill in it, I'll play it... I just won't eat it (unless it's a Fallout perk)!
