Flashforward 66 years in the future. Are you asking yourself what the world will be like? What technological advances society has made? Where you will be? Well, Feardemic has answered all these questions and more by creating 2084, a first-person shooter that throws players into the middle of an apocalyptic zombie world. This violent, action-packed game is perfect for adrenaline seekers because there is never a dull moment. Whether you’re hacking electronics or fighting off hordes of zombies, the player’s life is always on the line. It’s a terrifying world in 2084 so choose your moves carefully or it will be game over.
Players begin 2084 in a tutorial mode where they learn the ins-and-outs of the game like hacking, shooting, and other basic controls. Offering a total of twenty Steam achievements, this game is not only entertaining but also enticing for those who aim to grow their Steam profile. I will warn players, earning these achievements will not be easy. In fact, each mission players set out on, even in the beginning, is quite challenging due to health which can quickly wither away by the relentless zombies who desire to feast on flesh. Keeping an eye on your health and considering distance from zombies is vital to survival so restore your health when given the chance and do so strategically!
To survive, players must restore health, ammunition, and energy by hacking computers so pay attention and practice your hacking skills! As they progress through the game, players will notice the fluctuation of arrow numbers while hacking. Certain items such as energy and first aid may require only four arrows whereas a major task like hacking generators may require up to eight! Practicing speed, consistency, and ensuring accuracy is vital to success especially when confronting areas where they may encounter potential zombies. Players do not want to mess up there or it could be fatal!
The controls of 2084 are unlike any first-person shooter on the market and I assure players will be impressed by the consistent fluidity during combat. This smoothness is monumental to game performance and entices players to keep going (especially after dying to the same horde of zombies five times in a row). Typically, action games experience lag, however, Feardemic has managed to avoid this inconvenience and instead provides a wonderful experience for their players. Additionally, the graphics are breathtaking. The color scheme, authenticity, and futuristic themes truly create a sense of realism for the player again making them question whether it is simply a figment of Feardemic’s imagination or a reflection of society’s future. Judging by every small detail this reviewer can only assume it is the latter.
Combating zombies is a major part of 2084 so players should be ready to fight at any moment. They can do a significant amount of damage quite quickly so playing with sound is vital, it ensures players will hear these foes before they see them. Though they may not last long, these fights will certainly be brutal. I suggest prior to shooting players get as far away from zombies as possible so the damage they take is minimal. By pressing the dash button (e), players can escape massive hordes and shoot from safe distances. Using Feardemic’s left-click shooting feature, players can easily disintegrate zombies into the unknown! Helpful hint: some zombies with hackable features like televisions on their heads provide ammo. If you can do so without taking significant damage, try to hack them and get this ammo so you don’t run low while fighting!
Feardemic spares no time introducing players to the hyperreal world of 2084 where everything seems to be different. When survival seems unlikely and sight of other human lifeforms is obsolete, players will be apprehensive to even turn the corner. This feeling of adrenaline and action will leave one wondering could they could survive in a world like this? If a game like this entices you or you want to test your luck and see if you could survive post-apocalypse, perhaps check out Feardemic’s 2084, but heed my warning: you might be sleeping with the lights on!

My name is Haylee, but everyone calls me "Haylz". Gaming has been a passion of mine since my grandma bought me The Sims for PC and my love for gaming flourished from there. Currently, I'm a Senior studying English at Texas A&M University- Corpus Christi and spend most of my time gaming and leading my school through collegiate competitions as President of the eSports club! Despite being a dedicated vegetarian, my favorite games tend to be First Person Shooters and I'm naturally drawn to blood and gore! Chances are, if you can kill in it, I'll play it... I just won't eat it (unless it's a Fallout perk)!
