Haemimont Games released Victor Vran: Overkill Edition on Nintendo Switch, and I was able to review the game again, after last year’s review on PS4. I really like the game, as it gives you Diablo vibes gameplay. I was wondering what would have been different about this gameplay, and after playing it on the Switch, I saw the difference.
It was enlightening to listen to Doug Cockle again as Victor Vran, the voice of Geralt, the Witcher. Victor Vran as a character is shown an antihero who fights the monsters and demons in the game, and is trying to free the city of Zaragovia. You are able to revisit all the different part of the cities if you have played to games previously on PC or Consoles, and gives you a nostalgic feeling.
The difference this time with the Nintendo Switch version is the optimization of the game for the console. It feels flawless to play and ease of control is awesome. The game is pretty much same, graphics are toned down for optimization on the Switch. The camera controls feel natural to use on Switch and weapons and attacks are easily able to be executed.
For a moment, I thought would it be even fun after playing the game already on PS4 last year, but the gameplay was so smooth and optimized, and also the controls on the Switch are perfect for this kind of game, makes my hope up for more of similar games in the future. Also, I was surprised in a good way and I didn’t felt let down by re-playing the game. It was a fun ride.
One more thing I would like to add is that Victor Vran: Overkill Edition has different weapons which gives you different play style. One more reason for me liking the game on Switch is because of the fact that I went with a different play style using Hammers and Guns rather than my regular Sword play. It always felt fresh.
Overall, I would like to really praise Haemimont Games on doing a well done job on launching the game on Nintendo Switch. Victor Vran: Overkill Edition was definitely worth a second play through on Switch, and I would like to give it 8.5 stars.
