OlliOlli Switch Stance is the game from developers Roll7 and Good Shepherd Entertainment. It was initially released back in 2014 for other consoles and has been released on Switch on Feb. 14, 2019.
OlliOlli Switch Stance includes both OlliOlli and OlliOlli 2. The games are a must play as they take you back to some of the classic arcade platformer sports games. It revives the genre of the Skateboarding platformer game. OlliOlli already won over 75 awards and nominations including BAFTA Best Sports Title 2015. To all the fan of Tony Hawks games, this game is a sight for sore eyes, because after a long time I was able to play the skateboarding game and had so much fun.
OlliOlli and OlliOlli 2: Welcome to Olliwood, are 2D platformer/side scroller games. The graphical difference between the two games is significant as the first game was more of a pixelated player not in a bad way whereas OlliOlli2 has much smoother art and some great 2D particle effects.
The game starts off right with the a quick tutorial and teaches you a few basics and advanced tricks to score points. It then goes right into the first level after a while. The game has a pretty smooth gameplay and some amazing combos that a players can pull off. One thing that keeps you on your toes is the challenges on each level. It gives players something to accomplish in the game.
I personally felt that initially it is tough to pull off a lot of tricks and point but once you start going deeper and deeper, the combos and tricks will be much more smooth and easier to pull off. OlliOlli Switch Stance doesn’t only have tricks – it also has many different grinds that you can do. Altogether a combination of over 120 tricks and grinds can be performed in the game. The game also gives you daily grind mode, which lets you perform different challenges. Also there is RAD mode that only unlocks after completing all challenges in Amateur and Pro mode. It gets more challenging as you can only do perfect tricks, and if hit a single trick or grind lower than perfect, you have to start over.
I personally felt OlliOlli Switch Stance is better suited for Switch as you can do some quick play on your handheld console whenever you want. I have been waiting for something similar for quite a while on a handheld/mobile console and I think I finally found one. OlliOlli Switch Stance lets you revisit the game again with all amazing challenges on Switch plus provides you with both games and some great mechanics overall. I would rate this game a score of 9.5 stars.
