AFTER FALLING SHORT IN LAST YEARS PLAYOFFS, MAVS GAMING HAS SOMETHING TO PROVE IN THE UPCOMING NBA 2K SEASON
DALLAS, TX – The NBA 2K League will host the 2020 NBA 2K League Draft today, Saturday, Feb. 22, 2020 at Terminal 5 located at 610 West 56th Street, New York, NY 10019. With four returning players on the roster, Mavs Gaming will round out the team with the 39th and 63rd pick.
All 23 NBA 2K League teams, including expansion teams Hornets Venom GT and the Gen.G Tigers of Shanghai, will complete their six-person roster at the four-round draft.
“We have a lot to be excited about with this year‘s team,” Mavs Gaming Senior Vice President, Greg Nared, said. “Coming back with an experienced core group that already has a winning mindset, sets the precedence for Mavs Gaming. This year’s draft is an important one for us so we can continue a winning culture while we maintain our core values as an organization.”
With the addition of two expansion teams, 138 players will compete in the 2020 NBA 2K League season. During the offseason, 70 players who competed in the 2019 season were retained, leaving 68 roster spots available. Eleven teams hosted Pro-Am tournaments in their local markets with two participants from each tournament awarded spots in the 2020 NBA 2K League Draft pool.
After falling short in the playoffs last year, Mavs Gaming has something to prove. “The goal is not to be complacent. If we keep that in mind, it will keep the team hungry,” Mavs Gaming Head Coach, LT Fairley, said (Check Out our Media Day impressions!).
“I could be saying the same thing if we won the championship last year: ‘why win one when we can win five?’ That will give us the grind, grit and hunger to move and keep making progress.”
