Intel is producing its first discreet GPU for laptops which will speed up the processing of artificial intelligence. This means that those who use their laptops for GPU intensive tasks such as playing games at a trusted casino such as Cherry online casino or video rendering, among other tasks, will benefit from the added boost in speed.
What is the Intel Iris Xe Max?
This is the first separate effort that Intel is taking in manufacturing a dedicated graphics processor. It will enter a market dominated by Nvidia and AMD. While it is still in its infancy, it is not targeting heavy-duty GPU intensive tasks such as hard-core gaming or heavy-duty 3D rendering. The new GPU is best suited for entry-level laptops. It is mainly targeting users who create content such as live streaming, photo editing, and video encoding. It is expected to initially launch in 3 types of laptops namely; Dell Inspiron 15 7000 2-in-1, Acer Swift 3X, and Asus VivoBook Flip 14. These types of laptops are slim and portable. While it will initially be rolled out for laptops, it is expected Intel will also roll out discreet GPUs for desktop, with early 2021 being the target. However, it will not be a standalone product, but it will come bundled in low-cost PCs.
Content creation
Intel has manufactured this graphics card with content creation in mind. It has the ability to make use of artificial intelligence to speed up certain workloads, especially when paired with the Tiger Lake Core processors. It does this by using a feature referred to as “Deep Link” that is able to use both the integrated graphics and the GPU to speed up some tasks such as video encoding. According to the manufacturer, applications such as photography software Topaz Labs, streaming and recording program OBS, and XSplit Gamecaster among others will benefit greatly. It is also expected to add support to popular applications such as Magix and Blender, among others in the near future. In benchmarks set by Intel, it shows that the GPU is able to convert a 4K video 1.8X times faster when compared to the high-end Nvidia GeForce cards. The GPU will also utilize a Dynamic Power Share feature which acts to control the power the system is using when performing tasks that involve lots of graphics power.
Gaming
When Intel announced it was rolling out a discreet graphics processor, gamers assumed it was meant for them. However, this is not the case as it does not perform well in hard-core games since it was not designed to boost frame rates beyond what the integrated graphics card in the laptop can do. However, Intel has pointed out that some games run better using the GPU such as Assassin’s Creed, DOTA 2, BioShock Infinite, Odyssey and World of Tanks. Intel is considering taking on the entry-level PC gaming which it expects to roll out from next year. This could be seen as a competitor for Nvidia’s GeForce GTX series.
