A Total War Saga: TROY Review of Ajax & Diomedes Faction Pack

A Total War Saga: TROY Review of Ajax & Diomedes Faction Pack

Ready your shields and spears with A Total War Saga: TROY by Creative Assembly and Sega. Raise your blades. Prepare your slings. Ajax The Great has joined the battlefield. Once again, we storm the lands of Troy with two new commanders, Ajax & Diomedes, with new units, new missions, and new faction mechanics. Between gruesome Champion on Champion finishers, exploiting the diplomacy mechanics to maximize trading resources, and that perfectly executed cavalry charge that completely annihilates your opposition’s backrow, it’s time to set Troy ablaze once again.

Story

A Total War Saga: TROY Review of Ajax & Diomedes Faction Pack

A Total War Saga: TROY – Ajax & Diomedes DLC adds two new playable factions with all new units and unique storylines to follow. Ajax, the mighty shield of Achaeans, defends his brothers and family as he stomps across the battlefield like the giant he is. With him as the front, it will take the enemy everything they have in order to budge him an inch. When accompanied by Diomedes, the swift and cunning Warrior King of Argos, Troy’s walls will tremble. With a military mind as sharp as his, it is no wonder why he has become Athena’s favorite. Despite these two new additions, they haven’t brought any changes to the vanilla opener of the Danaan Heroes. Regardless, these mighty warriors bring with them more than enough content to make up for that.

Gameplay & Mechanics

And we’re back with more map-burning, castle-raising, spear-and-shield death matches with A Total War Saga: TROY latest DLC: Ajax & Diomedes Faction Pack. Along with these new heroes and units, a few other small additions have been added to the game. A new God, Hephaestus, has been added to the Divine Will section. Praying to them gives a +10% morale boost to shielded units along with a slew of other tide-turning benefits for your warriors. Warrior of Renown as well has been added for Ajax, allowing him the ability to undergo special missions such as avenging fallen allies, which raises his renown and status with the other Danaan factions. By doing so, Ajax will be able to host a slew of celebrations, increasing his diplomatic sway with the Danaan’s and awarding himself a slew of boons for both on and off the battlefield. Stealing the Palladium has also been added as a special event to help conquer Troy as well.

Aesthetics & Sound

A Total War Saga: TROY Review of Ajax & Diomedes Faction Pack

Not much has changed with the style and aesthetics of this new addition to A Total War Saga: TROY. If it ain’t broke, then don’t fix it. The heroes themselves are just as finely crafted as all the others, the world maps are still as beautiful, and the battle animations are top-notch. The after battle Champion vs Champion cinematics seem to have gotten some additional backgrounds, but overall, everything is just as beautiful as before. Thebes was given a small facelift, as well as some specially designed Battering Rams, which look amazing if I must say. Overall, it is still an easy on the eyes immersive experience that keeps you engaged for just one more turn.

Summary

A Total War Saga: TROY – Ajax & Diomedes is another legendary addition to the Total War series. You’ll manage resources, plan and strategize as you move across the map, and conquer your foes like never before. With new factions, 18 new units, and new gameplay elements to explore, this DLC adds hours of exciting gameplay that’ll have you glued to your screen as you plot, plan, and scheme your way to total victory.
