Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs First-Ever Level Builder Migrates Online

The free update from Resolution Games gives players the ability to create and share the levels of their dreams with friends of the flock, receive ‘likes’, and discover an unlimited amount of player-created content

STOCKHOLM – July 2, 2020 – Resolution Games has released an egg-citing update to its popular virtual reality (VR) game, Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs. With the update – available today in the Oculus Rift Store, Oculus Quest Store, Steam and Viveport – players not only have complete creative freedom* to design and play their own levels featuring Rovio Entertainment‘s feathered friends, but they can now also share their creations and have them ranked by the greater Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs community.

Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs First-Ever Level Builder Migrates Online

Whether players want to flex their creative muscles and strive to be recognized among the most popular levels, or just browse and play new and exciting levels based on popularity, difficulty or uploaded time, one thing is certain: the sky’s the limit for players to create levels like no one has ever seen or played before with Resolution Games’ new online level builder tool.

“Even from the beginning stages of developing our level builder tool, the goal has always been to empower the community to create their very own levels, however they want,” said Tommy Palm, CEO of Resolution Games. “There’s an amazing sense of accomplishment when creating something within a game – especially in VR. Now, not only can players get this level of satisfaction, but they can take it a step further to share their work with the community to get the recognition deserved. Plus, with an infinite number of levels possible through the sharing feature, there’s no telling what kind of amazing creations the world will construct for endless hours of fun.”

“The Angry Birds community has been a very passionate group for the past ten years,” said Sami Ronkainen, creative director at Rovio Entertainment. “Now that they are able to not only create but also share and discover new levels created by fellow fans, we can’t wait to see what the community comes up with.”

The level builder – which first hatched in the game this past December in a local iteration – is easy to use. Players simply create the level – or levels – of their dreams within the familiar island environment of Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs using different blocks from the original game – including wood/ice/rock blocks, various TNTs, fans, boulders, decoration blocks and more – as well as different pigs, such as boss pigs that players encountered from other levels to complete their custom creations. As with the local version, players also have the ability to choose which birds to slingshot at the structures and which teleportation points are available during construction.

Creating, Sharing and Discovering Made Easy

With the new update, players that create levels are assigned usernames. Though usernames aren’t required to browse and enjoy player-created levels, they are required for anyone who wishes to share their creations online. Once a level is uploaded, it receives a specific code that can then be shared with the community for anyone to play. Individual levels can also be marked as ‘favorites’ by players to be played at their convenience.

The Power of the Community – Let the Fun Begin!

After playing each custom level, players are requested to provide feedback for it in the form of a like or dislike. The more likes it receives, the more likely it will show up in “Quick Play” and when browsing for content.

Current Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs ($14.99) players will automatically receive today’s update for free through the Oculus Rift Store, Oculus Quest Store, Steam and Viveport, with the update coming to the PlayStation Store soon.

*The online level builder is intended to result in fun, challenging, and most importantly, safe content. Players are able to report offensive or inappropriate levels that are then subject to review and removed in a timely manner if necessary.
