California Senator Diane Feinstein spoke in San Francisco last week about the violent gaming effect on young people and said that if something is not done soon, Congress will have to step in, and that the industry ought to take notice.
She added,“If Sandy Hook doesn’t do it, if the knowledge of these video games [the shooter] played doesn’t then maybe we have to proceed, but that is in the future.”
Feinstein said that the National Rifle Association and gun manufacturers have intimidated legislators in the gun control debate, and will throw all kinds of money at her Republican opponents who disagree with her in future elections.
In 2011, the Supreme Court of the United States found a proposed law barring the sale of violent games to minors in California unconstitutional, with justice Antonin Scalia stating the bill did “not comport with the 1st Amendment.”
What are your thoughts about the effects of violent games on young people?
