Student developers win for creativity and secure nominations in categories across the board
Lisbon, Portugal — Student development quartet, Team Chronos, take home the prize for Most Innovative Game at the 5th Edition of the Playstation Talents event in Portugal with their title, Chronos, which was also nominated for nearly every category including Press Award, Best Art, Best Use of Playstation Platforms, Best Narrative, and Best Game of 2019. Chosen as a top 10 finalist among over 50 applicants, Chronos is a unique 2D platformer where players must harness and slow down time in order to progress through challenging environments to beat each level.
“Team Chronos are one of our student development crews we have in IPLeiria, and we couldn’t be more proud of the effort and creativity they’ve poured into Chronos,” said Ivan Barroso from IPLeiria. “Though they are still only fledgling game designers, we expect great things to come from this talented bunch.”
Chronos is a game about time and tempo, tasking players to complete difficult puzzles by strategically slowing time as they work through increasingly difficult levels of narrative-driven gameplay. With a beautifully hand-drawn art style and unique time slowing mechanics, Chronos has won a number of accolades in addition to the Playstation Talents prize and nominations, including the Nordic Game Discovery Portugal prize and was one of the 10 games selected for the PlayStation Awards in 2019 as well as a participant in the Official Selection of the Game Dev Student Showcase.
