Dota 2: Novice Friendly Heroes Allow Players to Get Started

The introduction of new players to Dota 2 has always been a bit of a challenge, at least compared to the way League of Legends gets things done. And yet, Dota 2 continues to have new players and at a good clip at that. So, what’s behind its success? Part of this has been attributed to sites such as https://dota-bet.com/ that allow players to bet.

But part of it is that, after all, underneath all its complexity, Dota 2 is a fairly easy game to grasp. More importantly, you have a set of heroes that will make the onboarding process a whole lot simpler than you expected. Crystal Maiden is just one good example of how a player of little skill and understanding (yet) can have an impact on the game.

Let New Players Thrive

For Dota 2 to continue gathering momentum in terms of player bases, one important criterion must be fulfilled – a community that welcomes and nurtures newcomers. While players in the game (and any game) tend to often vent their frustration on others (trying to masquerade their own lack of aptitude in the game), this has proven to be painfully unwelcoming.

The good news is there are heroes that will allow even a modest player to excel. In fact, there are at least five heroes that have remained the backbone of most Dota 2 team setups regardless of the patch – from the game’s early competitive days right to 2021. They include:

  • Crystal Maiden
  • Bane
  • Lich King
  • Lion
  • Warlock

While the game has seen a bunch of new heroes introduced (and more are surely coming), we will argue that these fived heroes can help you elevate your play at a noticeable pace. You will be tough, unkillable (with some attention paid to your positioning), and generally can have a huge impact.

Crystal Maiden will provide everyone with mana, and Bane brings three disables in his arsenal, a powerful tool of manipulating the enemy’s heroes. Lion can disable twice and then burst with a very powerful Finger of Death, not to mention the mana drain ability, which diminishes your opponent’s potential in real-time.

Warlock is pretty beefy and as to Lich King, denying your opponents’ experience is always a painful thing (if you are on the receiving end of it, that is). These supports will not only let new players get started – they will let them thrive.
