Fe is a puzzle platformer by Swedish studio Zoink Games and Electronic Arts Inc.. In it, you play as a small glowing creature tasked with defending the forest you live in from robot-like invaders.
While you are a defender, I couldn’t find a way to directly fight back against the invaders. You have to either sneak around them or lure them into a trap.
In the game, you have the ability to sing. These songs can be used to recruit other animals to help you or to manipulate certain plants. These animals also each have a song that can be used to manipulate certain plants. To begin with, you only have a song that can communicate with baby animals (and has no power over any plant) but as the game progresses you gain access to other songs that can manipulate certain plants and convince adult animals to help you.
Collectibles in the game come in the form of pink shards. When you collect enough of these shards, you unlock a new ability that helps you get around easier. I found that I only needed the first two abilities (unlocked by collecting a total of four shards, something that is not too difficult) to beat the main story.
It took me a total of 7 hours to get through the main story. While some might view this as short, I thought it was just enough for this game given how much it has in it. For others who want to get through a game quickly, this game would be a perfect fit for them.
While I found some of the stealth sections annoying, overall I enjoyed playing Fe. I think a fair rating for it would be 8/10.
Take a Look at the Fe Launch Trailer:
Fe is rated ‘E’ for Everyone by the ESRB and is available now for $19.99 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Origin for PC, and Nintendo Switch. To find out more on Fe, please visit the blog at https://www.ea.com/games/fe.
