To celebrate the game’s 10th birthday, Guild Wars 2 developer, ArenaNet, today released a special anniversary infographic showcasing the last decade of the MMORPG’s thriving success. The total number of in-game player guilds has eclipsed 1.3 million, and they’ve completed over 3.6 billion dynamic events across ten years, forging over 1.8 million legendary weapons in the process. These and other stats, including the number of vanquishes the community has achieved against Tyria’s massive elder dragons, can be found here.
New anniversary rewards are also available to players to coincide with the game’s release on Steam. Players who log in to Guild Wars 2 will find a new series of achievements taking them on a journey through the best of Guild Wars 2′s content, including world bosses, Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns, Guild Wars 2: Path of Fire, Guild Wars 2: End of Dragons, Living World, World vs. World, Player vs. Player, and more. Completing new tasks across these modes will earn Proofs of Legend, which can be traded in for a new Decade armor set. Complete enough achievements and they’ll also unlock the Decade’s War cape skin and their choice of a weapon from the new Dragon Decade set. Characters celebrating their 10th birthday will also receive an extra Proof of Legend to kickstart their collection.
These achievements are permanent additions to the game, so new players joining the game on Steam will be able to make progress on these achievements as they explore Tyria at their own pace.
Guild Wars 2, and the new Guild Wars 2 Complete Collection, which includes all three expansions and five seasons of Living World, is out now on Steam. With the Complete Collection, players can experience 10 years of Guild Wars 2 for the first time ever in one amazing package, providing a great opportunity for news players to jump in.
