Developed by CrazyBunch and published by Assemble Entertainment, this raunchy point and click adventure is filled with naughty innuendos, gorgeous women, and lewd imagery. If the visuals don’t captivate your attention, then the puzzles certainly will as nothing is sexier than using your brain power.
A sequel to the equally salacious game,Leisure Suit Larry – Wet Dreams Don’t Dry, Leisure Suit Larry – Wet Dreams Dry Twice picks up where the first game had left off. With his mind still on Faith, Larry will need to quickly find a way off the island of Cancum in search of his missing lover. Throughout his search, players will need to utilize his abilities to charm ladies and MacGyver together odd items he finds laying around. Despite being a middle-age man reminiscent of the inappropriate uncle at a bride’s wedding, there is something about Larry that has ladies swooning and helping him along.
Filled with stereotypes, yonic and phallic imagery, and dirty jokes that seem straight out of the writing from a bad porno, this game is for those with a specific taste in this genre. The constant innuendos and references to Larry’s horniness does get boring after a while. The penises and vaginas hidden around were at first a bit humorous and it was in itself, another game of how many genitalia-like objects can you spot. Similar to finding a hidden Mickey in the background, except dirtier. However, after finding the 30th not so subtle penis structure, it no longer becomes as funny.
The most enjoyable component of Leisure Suit Larry – Wet Dreams Dry Twice is the puzzle system littered throughout the varying chapters. A key element in Larry’s journey is the need to solve riddles and puzzles in order to progress the storyline. Certain tasks are straightforward and relatively easy with simple game mechanics. While others are at times frustratingly difficult and seemed to be based more off of pure luck as there are little to no indication on how to solve them. Much like Larry’s attempts at flirting, it will require multiple attempts and experimentation before achieving the desired results.
In the end, the poor foreplay in the form of cheesy sex jokes, dull dialog, and at times problematic puzzles, has Leisure Suit Larry – Wet Dreams Dry Twice falling short. Especially with the price that the game is currently being sold at $34.99. It feels a lot like expecting an amazing hotel and instead getting a questionable motel room, where there are stains everywhere, the TV only has two channels, and the bed smells funky. It just gets boring, unappealing, and you will feel like you need a clean shower after.
PROS: At times fun and challenging; full of pretty ladies, and all the sex is between consenting adults.
CONS: At times very frustrating, full of weird men, and not as funny as it could be.
