Create your own villainous sim character (of any gender) and network your way through your attendance at the Villain Conference in Lovingly Evil by developer Lizard Hazard Games and publisher Green Man Gaming. With online dating becoming the new social norm that most of the newer generation and later millennials have to navigate through, this should be right up their social media alley. Imagine a mash between sims, online dating, and an array of your favorite villains all in the same game; however, you get to make up your very own, brand new villain to play instead! The Villain Conference is meant to bring together villains and evil doers from every universe to aid them in finding partners that they can create malevolent plans with and/or fall in love with.
There are also options for those wishing to remain single and just attend different talks in order to hone their villainous ways even more, and just live their best villain life!
Speaking of options; there are tons of customizable options to make you look like your best villain self and attract the kind of villain you want most. From body and face shape and skin tone, to accessories, scars, and pets, Lovingly Evil has several options to help you determine the kind of villain you inspire to be. Whether that includes being a necromancer, a criminal mastermind, or an evil demi-god from the dark corners of the universe, it’s up to you.
As you go through the conference (and later on, the nightclub), networking, attending talks, and meeting new people, one unexpected thing may sneak up on you: love. Lovingly Evil presents you with five potential love interests throughout the game, allowing you to determine who lights your eternal hellfire through strategically placed mini-games and icebreakers that allow you to really get to know your potential partner in all things nefarious.
But if you would rather just sweet talk your way into the other villains’ vision, you can also turn of the mini games and step back towards a more narrative-based experience with the potential love interests.
Like life, the choices you make in Lovingly Evil will determine what path you end up on; Lovingly Evil allows you to take life by the horns, or reigns (what’s the difference, really), and take control of the choices surrounding your new alter-ego and its dating life.
I personally had a lot of fun playing this game. The gameplay was different than I was expecting, but in a good way. From the graphics, dialogue, and overall feel of the game, I was impressed. One of the things I liked most about this game was the amount of choices presented to the player about where the conversation should go. This creates several different outcomes for each conversation, with every game yielding a different result. My experience with Lovingly Evil was well received and I hope other players get enjoyment out of it as well. I would give this game a 9 out of 10.
