My Singing Monsters Playground, by developer and publisher Big Blue Bubble, is a cute party style game where you play as some of the monsters from the original, My Singing Monsters game. You get to choose one of seven monsters to play as in a series of fun minigames that you can play by yourself against bots or with up to four friends. This game features a variety of minigames to play and character costumes to unlock along the way.
When you first start the game, you are prompted to choose a character; this is also the point where you invite your friends to play if you’re doing that. Currently, the game only allows local multiplayer or remote play through Steam. Once everyone is in and has chosen a character, you start, and have three options of how to play through the minigames. Tournament mode where you play against your friends or the bots through multiple minigames to see who wins the most, Solo Gauntlet, which you can only play against bots, is where you see how many games you can get through without losing, and Free Play, which allows you to play specific minigames that you choose from. My Singing Monsters Playground itself is fun, well put together and smooth – I love the overall look and feel of the game. The graphics are well rounded and pleasing to look at, the characters are unique and cute as well the music being very upbeat adds to the experience. It’s fun to play both by yourself or with your friends, and as an added bonus when you play through the games you can get tokens that unlock decorations and costumes for your monsters.
My Singing Monsters Playground is well made and I don’t have issues with the gameplay itself, just a few comments. There are a variety of minigames but there could be more, especially because some of them have the same or at least similar concepts, so a bit more variety could help with replayability. Something I do think is a bit unfair is that when you play tournament, the player with the lowest score always picks the game, which can help them in getting more points but more often than not it ends up that one person chooses the games for most of the tournament, which can get annoying especially when playing with bots. I suggest maybe making it so that the one who loses the minigame gets to choose the next one as it would still give the advantage to lower players while still giving more variety. These things don’t make the game less fun overall, just a bit repetitive.
My Singing Monsters Playground is a cute and fun party style game featuring multiple minigames. It plays very smoothly and looks pleasing to the eye while also being very fun to play with friends or by yourself. The minigames can get repetitive due how many games there are to play and the similarities some of them have. It reminds me of a few other games like Fall Guys and Mario Party especially if they add a board game aspect to it. This game is fun and has a lot of potential especially considering this is just a demo preview with room to add more in the future.

My Singing Monsters Playground will launch for console and PC via Steam on November 9, 2021.
I enjoy a wide variety of games from intricate survival/adventure games to simple platformers. I am also a sucker for a good story game.
