Mira and the Legend of the Djinns is an epic 2D pixel art styled Metroidvania that is inspired by the classics. You follow the story of Yuba who is a treasure hunter, and Mira who is a Djinn who has lost her memories. Along the way through your epic quest you will fight deadly foes, meet new friends, discover ancient weapons, priceless artifacts, forgotten ruins and much more. Will you be able to help Mira regain her memories and unlock the secret truths to past ancient history?
When you start the game the tutorial runs you through all the movements and actions such as attacking, dodging, using items, wall jumping and much more. Controller is highly recommended to play this game, Steam tells you it’s required while the game tells you it’s highly recommended so, while you can play it with a keyboard, I do not recommend it. After you complete the tutorial level, your next spot is a little fire where Yuba is taking a rest and practicing with an instrument. This is where you learn how to play it as well. Yuba then keeps going on his mission when he encounters a large shell that is home to a snail, before Yuba can react the snail hits the ground causing you to fall into a pit that turns out to be a ruin. While running through the halls words appear begging you to not leave them here alone, eventually you come across a statue with a glowing bottle beckoning you to play your instrument. After playing a mysterious woman appears out of the bottle, this is Mira the first Djinn to be seen in generations. Within the rest of the ruins you solve puzzles and explore finding a new sword and some upgrades to aid you in your journey. Be prepared because there is much more to come, secrets to uncover, ruins to investigate, creatures to fight, and more. Overall this is a good and fun game, the platforming is smooth, the story is interesting, and the art is very beautiful.
I don’t have any real issues I had with the game. The only thing I can even comment on is the keyboard option, since the game recommends the controller but still works with a keyboard it would be nice to be able to see the keyboard controls somewhere even if it’s just in the settings and not actually shown in the tutorial. This is mainly personal preference because I prefer the keyboard over a controller even in games that are easier to play with a controller. Either way, the game seems well made and well polished even for a demo.
Mira and the Legend of the Djinns is a beautiful 2D platformer inspired by Moroccan culture and spiritual traditions. You will wield powerful weapons, uncover ancient secrets, explore vast deserts and more. Along the way you meet and will hopefully be able to aid a lost Djinn who needs to uncover her memories. Overall this game is a fun experience with smooth gameplay and an interesting story. I can not wait to see where the full release takes us later this year.
You can wishlist Mira and the Legend of the Djinns for PC via Steam as well as play the demo right now.

I enjoy a wide variety of games from intricate survival/adventure games to simple platformers. I am also a sucker for a good story game.
