Imagine if instead of a Mad Max post-apocalyptic wasteland, the world has been reborn into a new age of peace and plenty. Where there are countless of resources to gather, quests to partake, and characters to meet, befriend, and even love. With My Time At Portia, developed by Pathea Games and published by Team17 Digital Ltd, the possibilities are endless. If you are a fan of the Harvest Moon or Dark Cloud game series, then you will surely love this RPG. My Time At Portia essentially combines those two games’ best qualities into one seamless open world.
In the game, your character is moving to the town of Portia to start a new life as a builder and to take over your late father’s workshop. From there on you will be introduced to numerous unique characters. Some you can only befriend, while others you can woo, court, and eventually even marry. Girl, guy, doctor, farmer, or even a man who was raised by a bathrobe wearing bear, there are many enticing bachelors and bachelorettes to fall for.
If romancing isn’t what you really look for in a game, then try your hand at becoming Portia’s best builder and adventurer. You can accept commissions or just help out your fellow neighbors for money and increased reputation. Nearby ruins are great places to explore and gather materials for building and finding lost pieces of the past. However, not all your missions and quests will be as easy as digging through the ground. Many areas are also filled with beasts of different levels that will keep you on the lookout for the goodies they drop when defeated.
Want to go for a more relaxing, but equally satisfying life style? Then you can also try focusing your talents at building a farm right on your property. Complete with cute farm animals, crops, and a prosperous business to cater to the needs of Portia’s population. If all these options sound terrific and you want to be the best lover, adventurer, farmer, and builder that Portia has ever seen, then go for it! You can do it all!
Addicting and somehow so soothing and fulfilling, this crafting game is sure to pull you into its loving embrace. The errands and missions are in a way endless; however, they don’t feel repetitive or bothersome as the tasks are always slightly different and you have the option to not accept. Though, the added bonus of befriending the other characters are great motivators.
Essentially a never-ending game, there is always something new to do and find. The wondrous open world layout can occupy your attention for days as the need to explore tests your curiosity. With so many events to partake and with so many interesting characters throughout, there is never a dull moment. Not only will you fall in love in the game, you will also fall in love with My Time At Portia.
PROS: Addicting, ability to marry anyone of either gender, amazing open world environment, and lovely soundtrack.
CONS: Addicting, starts off a bit slow at first, and there are some bugs in certain areas.
SCORE: 9/10

Steam Review
Video games have always been a huge influence in my life and have definitely shaped me to who I am today . Some of my best memories growing up were the many adventures and stories I was able to experience and become immersed in. If my hands aren't either covered in clay, typing, editing, creating, or helping shoving food in my mouth, they would either be gripped to a controller, tapping away at the screen of my phone, or clicking away on my PC. I am always up for trying something new because why live just one life when you can live many.
