Neko Ghost, Jump! Demo Impressions on Steam

The Neko Ghost, Jump! Steam demo, developed and published by Burgos Games, is now live for free on Steam, and it contains a combination of platform and puzzle games that also allows you to continually switch between 2D and 3D perspectives as well as allowing your character to switch between both of their physical and ghostly selves. These adaptions make it easier to solve puzzles, combat enemies, and to ultimately clear the levels faster.

When I first stepped into Neko Ghost, Jump! , I noticed that the environment of the game graphics seemed to represent a combination of genres; as if Minecraft crashed into a Mario/anime platform game, but in a way that blended at the seams. I had a lot of fun playing this, although it took me some time to get the hang of it. The platform jumping in the speed rounds becomes more difficult the farther into the level that you go. There’s an added step or control that’s needed there that wasn’t before. Each step continually becomes more challenging the higher up in levels you go, gradually adding another element each time. It was certainly challenging, and I got frustrated at times, but it wasn’t so challenging that I wanted to stop playing. There’s just enough there to keep you hooked and wanting to keep trying because there is a way to beat it.

One of my favorite parts about Neko Ghost, Jump! is the graphics. They’re so bold and bubbly, and fun. The introductory scene for the game was also interesting to watch. The graphics were well done, but also the humor and the cuteness of the cat characters interacting once an enemy ship has landed on their planet kept me intrigued the whole time. It wasn’t a storyline I was used to seeing, with so many different elements thrown into one scene, but it worked. I do wish that on the speed rounds and levels, that it didn’t tell me how many times I had died before that, or that there was a place to save in the middle of the round so that you wouldn’t have to start back over every time. Other than those few things, this is an all-around great game.

If you’re just wanting to play a casual game, and/or love puzzle and platform games, you’ll enjoy Neko Ghost, Jump!, too. It’s one that’s easy to come back to however many times you need to. There’s plenty more to the game to keep exploring levels, and the game will only become more exciting as well as more challenging. But they do balance each other out! Have fun jumping from platform to platform, combatting enemies and beating your best time on speed levels. Neko Ghost, Jump! is worth checking out, at least from my demo first impressions! I recommend it.

It's kind of like getting to become a new person every time you play a game.
