PAX East 2019: DAUNTLESS Impressions

Dauntless is a free-to-play action RPG, developed and published by Phoenix Labs. At PAX East 2019, we had a great time with Robin Mayne, co-founder of Phoenix Labs at the Dauntless Booth, discussing the idea of the game. Robin explained how they always wanted a PVE game where everyone could play together, a game that gives you sense of inclusivity and accomplishment, and that idea gave birth to Dauntless.

Dauntless is a behemoth hunting RPG that lets players hunt Behemoths together as well as gather the material to craft and upgrade items. We also talked about the new Behemoth Boreus, and how over the time of development they came up with the idea of adding smaller minions to add more challenge to the hunt itself. Dauntless overtime has grown a great deal since the game initially came out, and that is not even a full year yet. There are changes to weapons, especially hammer and the axe’s special attacks. The axe is now special as it is something like Leviathan Axe from God of War – players can throw the axe and recall it. Also, there are the additions of special Hunt Passes and Seasons to give players additional rewards for the characters.

We are very excited to try the game out with the newer updates – all the updates are already live. Dauntless is also moving to the Epic Store soon, but for now, you can go to playdauntless.com and download the game. It is free to play so anyone can jump in and start hunting the Behemoths.
