Playing Poker in Red Dead Redemption 2

Ever since Rockstar Games has released the most anticipated Western adventure, Red Dead Redemption 2, players have been able to live out their fantasies as cowboys and cowgirls on PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Stadia. (Check Out our PC Review!)

Besides robbing banks, shootouts, and fighting off bad guys, playing poker in a dusty saloon definitely comes to mind. For those card game aficionados, there are several locations where the game of Poker can be played in Red Dead Redemption 2.  You can play Poker in the Saloon of Valentine, Flatneck Station (after completing the main mission of “Who is Not Without Sin,” Saloon of Saint Denis, Saloon of Blackwater and Saloon of Tumbleweed (both available once you’ve reached the Story’s Epilogue), and you will also get to play Poker automatically in chapter 4 main mission “A Fine Night of Debauchery.”

Winning Strategies:

Poker in Red Dead Redemption II begins by each player placing a bet that is either greater than or equal to the previous players. You have the option of sitting out a round by folding if you feel that you have no chance of winning that hand.

Here is what you can do in each round:

  1. Check – You will not bet any money and pass the play along to the next player. The round finishes once all players pass and the next community card is on the table.
  2. Initiate the bet – if you do not want to check. This means that the other players will have to match your bet or greater.
  3.  Raise the Stakes – this forces previous and next players to match your bet or higher.
  4. Fold – do this when you are sure that there is no way for you to win.
  5. Go All In –  you basically make your hand an all or nothing situation by placing all of your chips on the table. However, if you cannot match the current bet on your turn, you could win but only whatever portion of the prize that you can match.
