Amazon Prime Gaming’s Crown Channel, an entertainment destination that combines the best of gaming, pop culture, and real-time audience engagement through Twitch interactivity, is premiering its latest show, LORE Vol. 1 The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD, a one-time special event Saturday, July 31 from 9:30am – 11:30am PT. Hyrule Historians will go head-to-head in a philosophical battle over the most hotly discussed topics stemming from The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD, the earliest story in The Legend of Zelda series narrating the beginning of the epic spanning 19 games across generations of Nintendo consoles. The show will take a unique look at the newly remastered The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD game on the Nintendo Switch system through the eyes of various social content creators as they play their favorite parts of the game live.
To create an immersive blend of virtual and more traditional reality for viewers, Crown Channel tapped Rite Media, known for some of the most ambitious sequences for films like Spider-Man: No Way Home; Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2; and Stranger Things, to help digitally construct this special event that employs the latest entertainment technology.
Extended reality, or XR, is the latest evolution from augmented reality and virtual reality and has been largely touted as the future of film and TV – moving vastly away from green screen. Rite Media will help bring Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD game to life as the backdrop for the new show, digitally constructing a stage for fans of the Legend of Zelda franchise to use to debate core storylines of the 35 year old saga, allowing chat to influence the discussions.
Through an XR stage, graphics will be rendered on to LED screens and composited together, enabling 3D content to appear both in front and behind a performer and allowing them to interact with the 3D space. Crown Channel plans to merge the XR experience with chat and physical props provided by Nintendo for a completely blended, reality-blurring stage.
