R.B.I. BASEBALL 19 Review for Nintendo Switch

R.B.I. BASEBALL 19 Review for Nintendo Switch

Baseball is always been a game that made me curious, as it is more close to cricket for me, and I used to play a lot of Baseball on 8-bit console back in the day. Now, R.B.I (Run Batted In) Baseball series is back with R.B.I Baseball 19, developed by MLB and published by MLB Advanced Media.

R.B.I Baseball 19 provides numerous different modes, from quick exhibition matches to managing the team. The game has some great mechanics and events like trade players, win over agents, and recruit rookies. In addition, all time great players are available to play as well as Legend Teams are available. Home Run Derby is another one of the game events/modes to play in R.B.I Baseball 19. Players can start a Franchise, that lets you manage the whole team and the season to lead the team to Championship. And, there is also a Postseason mode, that lets you play through the elimination rounds.

R.B.I Baseball 19 is a good sports game that can be played on the Nintendo Switch. The game is not perfect, but it is not in the worst situation either. I played Baseball after a long time and it was fun. The controls are pretty easy for batting and pitching, but the gameplay itself was tough for me initially as I was barely able to hit the ball. It took me a while to go through the practice mode to play the game properly. The worst part was the fielding controls; even though the controls were shown on the screen, it was hard to play through the game, as I would just randomly throw a ball.

The graphics are good enough to run smoothly on the Nintendo Switch and details look good. But there were freezes during certain actions, or at least I felt that while playing the game. Also during the video animations, I saw the frame rate drop miserably. The lack of animation-like moving the Batter/Hitter during Batting gives you vibe of 90’s baseball game.

Overall R.B.I Baseball 19 is good in terms of something quick to play on the Switch, but it still needs a lot of improvements to bring it to the league of bigger sports games like MLB The Show, FIFA, or PES. For bringing back baseball fun and quick play, I would give R.B.I Baseball 19 6 stars.
