It has been a while since I played a game like Remnant: From the Ashes, which is developed by Gunfire Games and Published by Perfect World Entertainment. The game is pretty much a third person shooter/action game that has some great inspiration from gameplay of Demon Souls, which uniquely integrates the co-op mode in the game as well.
Remnant: From the Ashes starts off with a quick tutorial in which we are dropped off near an island and have to move through the world to figure out a way to the lighthouse. Then we are introduced to a demon-like villain. Initially, we play with a simple sword and as we learn more about the Ward 13 that is like a safehouse for survivors from this unknown calamity that has struck the world. Remnant: From the Ashes has different worlds where you can travel to using the Red/Orange glowing crystals. Initially you start off as solo but as soon as you get introduced to the crystal the player has open sessions available. It is easy to join a random server. The best thing about co-op is that even if you might not have unlocked certain worlds, you can still join the open servers. There are no level restrictions in the game. There are dragon hearts that let you heal your full health and some great traits that are like passive skills upgrades. With the right amount of skill upgrades you can quickly gain points to upgrade the traits and increase attack/defense attributes.
You can expect to encounter some small areas as well as a few main bosses in each world. After encountering different groups of enemies and mini bosses in each level, you get to fight the main boss of that area, that is separated by a fog screen. Boss fights are the best in Remnant: From the Ashes because each boss is unique in its own where you to learn the mechanics and when all players die you revive back at the stone and strategize again to fight the boss. I have also noticed that a lot of times the worlds are a little bit different every time you get summoned to a world, which makes the game more unique.
Remnant: From the Ashes has some amazing upgrades for different weapons, and has some different skills that can be crafted or bought from the NPCs. Each boss kill drops some great crafting and upgrade material. I have already played through some great amount of hours in the game and found that the most fun part for me was to join random servers.
I would definitely recommend Remnant: From the Ashes to all the players and especially to the fans of Dark Souls. The game adds a great variety of features that are unique to itself. I have to mention that sometimes there are small bugs that give you the only option to restart the game.
I would give Remnant: From the Ashes 8.5 stars out of 10.
