RISE OF INDUSTRY Review for Steam

Calling all tycoons! Have you ever wanted to test your entrepreneurial skills and see how far you could make it in the trade industry? If so, you might want to check out publisher Kasedo Games and developer Dapper Penguin Studios’ Rise of Industry. Although this game is a bit complex, it is sure to satisfy the ferocity inside any money grubber. But be conscious of your decision making or you might end up in an irreversible debt!

Although the controls are simplistic and self-explanatory, I highly suggest players play through the initial tutorial. This is important since there are so many working parts to Rise of Industry. Even as an avid trading tycoon player, I found myself lost at times with all the demands so pay attention and take note of the helpful hints provided along the way!

A unique part of Rise of Industry are the permit auctions which players are required to participate in so they can expand their empire and unlock certain industrial buildings. Placing the highest bid and competing against AI’s is entertaining and thrilling, especially when you win! For individuals who seek the rush of trade, this is certainly one of the more realistic aspects of Kasedo Games has to offer.

A vital part to player success is managing the various destinations one’s resources can travel to. This means the player can decide which town a product will be delivered based upon its distance from their warehouse. Although they can bid on permits to help expand their empire and create structures closer to other cities, it is smarter to place their headquarters in a midway location so they can avoid losing profit due to travel. In other words, putting too much distance between the player’s factories and the cities they deliver to may result in less profit so pay attention to structural locations!

There are many moving parts to Rise of Industry and I will admit I found it to be quite boring at some points. Even for someone who really enjoys playing trade-based games, there were times I wondered if I was missing something. I had to ask myself, was this just like the rest of the industrialist tycoon games or did it have something else to offer? And if it did, what was that one definitive factor? Well, the truth is there isn’t necessarily one factor that sets it aside from other games. With so many options to choose from and so many potential paths for the player to take, that is what has resurrected a classic tycoon genre and given it a fancy new face-lift. I’m not quite sure if I like it, but I certainly don’t hate it. I don’t want to play it for hours but that doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy it.

So, if you’re a money-lover, a sand-boxer gamer, or simply someone who wants to put in some hours on a game that both relaxes and frustrates you, I highly suggest checking out  Rise of Industry. I won’t guarantee that you’ll be good at it but take some time and you might find yourself satisfied with your results.
