This is the review for the Android version of the single player, role-playing title, The Shadow Sun, by developer Ossian Studios.
Taking place in the vast and cursed city of Shar, The Shadow Sun brings the ultimate western action RPG to Android devices. Surrounded by desolate deserts, players will explore the ancient city held within the grip of a mysterious plague. With more than 10 hours of gameplay, fans will journey through 70 unique areas and uncover 200 different items, ancient treasures, and hidden secrets to help them prepare for combat against deadly enemies across the city. Gamers can customize their character, adopt a faithful dog, and ally with companions who will join you in this epic adventure with multiple quest solving options and more than 30 attacks, spells, and skills to choose from. Rendered in full 3D graphics using the Unity engine, The Shadow Sun offers a deep, single-player role-playing experience unseen in the mobile gaming space.
Graphics
Rendered in full 3D graphics, The Shadow Sun is vibrant, colorful and pleasing to the eye. The character movements and animations are smooth and crisp, especially for a mobile game. Indoor and outdoor lighting make objects and characters stand out. However, sometimes the movements of enemies or even characters can look slightly rigid, but this is to be expected with the platform. We gave the graphics a 4 / 5.
Sound
The sound of The Shadow Sun is very consistent with the gameplay and smooth transitions from scene to scene. We gave the sound a 5 / 5.
Gameplay
The true RPG nature of The Shadow Sun is what really makes the game highly enjoyable. And don’t worry about getting stuck as right away, you’ll notice the very thorough hint guide, gaming tips and full walkthrough. This game is a true heaven for those who enjoy exploration as it has at least 200 different items to find and plenty of fighting to test your skills. Because of this we gave the gameplay a 5/ 5.
Controls
The Shadow Sun controls were easy to learn. However, as with several other mobile phone games that we have played, the cursor buttons were very small and made our game experience a bit challenging at times. For this, we gave the controls a 4 / 5.
Overall
The Shadow Sun is a very enjoyable experience for Android that will be sure to give players a great time, and, for only $4.99! You can expect to have at least 10-15 hours of gameplay. Overall, The Shadow Sun was an engaging game and we’d like to see a future content release.
