Sony’s Board Chairman and former CEO, Howard Stringer will retire in June in order to pursue other opportunities such as sitting on the board of companies in the “healthcare and education fields.”
Stringer announced his upcoming retirement in New York at the Japan Society on Friday, reported Bloomberg.
After his announcement, the company’s current CEO, Kazuo Hirai, said: “Howard’s achievements as CEO of Sony are innumerable; from breaking down silos and driving ‘Sony United,’ to fundamentally realigning the focus of Sony’s product development.”
In a transcript provided a company spokesman, Jim Kennedy, Stringer stated: “A new world is opening up for me that will allow me to move forward with new opportunities I’ve been presented with lately.” Let us know what you think by posting your comments below.
