SPACE OTTER CHARLIE Review for Steam

The humans have done it again! They’ve created a huge mess and blasted away into space, leaving it all behind. Now the Earth is becoming too hot for other creatures to comfortably live and the answer seems to lie beyond Earth’s heated atmosphere. Luckily there are plenty of smart critters who have learned from leftover human tech to create rockets and launch their very own space team. Now the fate of all animal kind is in the trusty paws of Charlie and his crew.

Space is not a safe place for a human, let alone a ship full of furry otters. Supplies are limited and it’s up to Charlie to scout out abandoned ships, seemingly empty space labs, and suspicious asteroids for fuel and extra schematics. Luckily for Charlie, his space squad are more than capable of helping him on his missions as they communicate through his earpiece and help guide him with helpful tidbits. Power cells, batteries, mechanical cogs, and screws are all crucial for upgrading equipment and maintaining a strong suit. With a robust laser gun in hand and plenty of junk to clear away, there is no shortage of ways to collect what the crew needs.

The gun will be vital in not only blasting away old debris, but also some sketchy menaces as Charlie is not entirely alone. Each area is filled with either rogue robots, space specters, or what look like to be malignant flying tumors. These deadly enemies come with an arsenal of weaponry in the forms of rockets, spikes, and plasma balls. If that wasn’t already dangerous enough, the maps are also labyrinth-like and filled with lasers and even super-heated walls. As each new area is thoroughly explored, a big, bad boss will be waiting for Charlie and unfortunately, they don’t care for terrestrial laws against animal cruelty.

The more plans and items that can be collected, the better Charlie will be able to upgrade his own artillery. Rocket launchers, lasers that can bounce off walls, or even a gun to shoot three stars at a time can be used against the plethora of enemies Charlie encountersEven his spacesuit can be upgraded, so why not go wild and turn his suit into a shark. Want to look more fabulous? Then the pink disco suit is the go-to outfit because who said an otter couldn’t explore space and look amazing at the same time?

Video games have always been a huge influence in my life and have definitely shaped me to who I am today . Some of my best memories growing up were the many adventures and stories I was able to experience and become immersed in. If my hands aren't either covered in clay, typing, editing, creating, or helping shoving food in my mouth, they would either be gripped to a controller, tapping away at the screen of my phone, or clicking away on my PC. I am always up for trying something new because why live just one life when you can live many.
