Were you one of those kids who loved to set up mock battles with tiny green army men and planned the best way to take down your enemies? Do you still love doing that, but want to see everything come alive in a blaze of action and gunfire? If you’ve answered yes to both those questions, then look no further, for Total Tank Simulator is here for you and it has much more than just small soldiers for you to play with. Developed by Noobz from Poland and published by 505 Games, this strategy and simulation game places you amid the frontlines in World War II with fleets of planes, tanks, and an army at your disposal. Choose the nation you will fight for, plan your military strategies, and may the strongest win the war.
One of the, if not most well-known wars of mankind, World War II also highlighted the peak of human weapon innovations and battlefield strategies. Total Tank Simulator takes this concept and puts gamers in the role of a commander so they may conquer, decimate, and lead their forces to victory. The concept is simple enough. Analyze your opponents’ troops, weapons, and tank placements and counter it with your own. Actually being successful and winning the battle with limited casualties is where the challenge lies as the game’s CPU will give you a run for your money. It is recommended to start with the tutorial and with a few practice battles to truly familiarize and understand the gameplay.
What this game lacks in character design or elaborate artwork, it makes up for in the amount of detail that simultaneously happens during battles. Gunfire, bombs, planes falling from the sky, and exploding buildings, can all be seen in the heat of combat. With so many things happening at once, keeping the visuals simple and easy to read is key to keeping your attention on so many moving pieces. The further you advance and win, the more funds and research points you can obtain. Research points are needed to upgrade your militia and weaponry; with enough leveling you can even use trained dogs and bears to fight with you.
With three different modes to play from, campaign, sandbox, and shadow mode, it can’t be possible to ever play the same exact game twice. The possibilities and outcomes are only limited to how much effort and creativity you invest. Keep in mind, that despite utilizing World War II as its main environment and inspiration, Total Tank Simulator is not historically accurate. Instead, just focus on having fun and go wild with setting up your chaotic battles.
PROS: Easy to pick up and play, great for all ages pre-teen and up.
CONS: Despite going to lower resolution settings, there always seems to be a slight lag. Switching to different views while the battle is occurring can be very chaotic and disorientating.
SCORE: 6/10

Steam Review
Video games have always been a huge influence in my life and have definitely shaped me to who I am today . Some of my best memories growing up were the many adventures and stories I was able to experience and become immersed in. If my hands aren't either covered in clay, typing, editing, creating, or helping shoving food in my mouth, they would either be gripped to a controller, tapping away at the screen of my phone, or clicking away on my PC. I am always up for trying something new because why live just one life when you can live many.
