In most Battle-Royale games, the player would most likely expect the game to end once their player has been killed. In Watchers, by developer Blindfold and publisher Alwar Premium, however, players can continue to play the game as a “Watcher,” even after their character has undoubtedly met their untimely death. Loaded with multiple character options, as well as weapons and ammo boxes along the way, fighting through to the top proves to be as fun as it is challenging. You start off with your character being dropped in an area of your choosing (basically in the middle of nowhere) and you have to find your way through the farm or forest to the rest of the players (basically like finding your way to civilization).
The watchers in the game are allowed to bet on the final players, who will kill next, who they want to be their favorite (the character who will earn them energy through their actions for the rest of the game). Etc. Watchers are allowed to earn points through other player’s actions for the rest of the game, unless they are one of the final 3 and lose. Other Watchers who were defeated earlier in the game are able to vote on the final 3 to determine who they think will be the ultimate winner.
The more experience that is gained through completing daily quests and general quests allows quicker access to the battle pass content pack, which includes:
- 30 fighter skins
- 8 types of Melee weapons
- 22 player Avatars
- 6 sprays for Watchers
- 4 animations for extended flare when landing
- 5 emotes to tease your opponents with
- 5 new gravestones for the bones of your enemies
- 6 garden gnomes
The graphics in this game are top notch and the overall play of the game is extremely smooth. I noticed a couple of glitches while I was playing, though. When my character was dropped into the safe zone, the game seemed to freeze for a second or two before he actually dropped to the ground. I was also not able to face my opponents head-on, so I was shooting sideways and running backwards. This isn’t that much of a hindrance if you can hit your opponent at just the right angle, but I do believe it distracts from the overall play and experience of the game.
There also seems to be a story that is lacking from this game. The situation in the game is never really explained, you are just dropped off in the middle of nowhere and left to your own devices. While I feel that this makes sense in “letting the game speak for itself,” it really leaves the player hanging with no explanation of how they got there.
Overall, I would rate the game Watchers 6/10. Although I enjoyed playing it and the graphics and controls were smooth, I just wasn’t wowed or knocked out of the park with it. But, if this sounds like your kind of game, I would say go for it. You might actually have more fun being a “Watcher” than a “Player.”

Steam Review
I am an army veteran and currently a sophomore at Portland State University majoring in English. I have always looked to gaming as an outlet outside of my everyday life and a way to experiment with playing different types of games and take on new and exciting characters with different backgrounds. It's kind of like getting to become a new person every time you play a game.
