World of Warships Sinks the Competition to Earn YouTube Ad of the Year Award

Thar’ she blows! World of Warships has charmed the masses once more — this time winning first place in the “Ad that Frees Your Inner Gamer” category of the YouTubeAd of the Year Contest. Going head-to-head with other industry heavy hitters such as Fortnite and League of LegendsWorld of Warships proved to be a fan-favorite with its hilarious ad that asks, “Why the @#$@ Haven’t You Played World of Warships Yet?”

Created internally by Wargaming.net, the ad takes a tongue-in-cheek look at the massively multiplayer naval combat game and showcases some of the key features of gameplay, the fantastic graphics… and the option to “avenge the Titanic.”

World of Warships is often dominantly perceived through its strategic and historical angle,” said Yan Emanov, WoWS Product Marketing Director. “While we are proud of these aspects, our game offers much more to players. Therefore, with this video, we wanted to put more emphasis on its fun and entertaining side.”

Emanov added,

“We have a very passionate and witty audience, always ready to discuss various topics, so our scriptwriter didn’t have to look far for inspiration.”

Along with this exciting news, Wargaming is also encouraging sign-ups for the first Closed Beta for WorldofWarshipsLegends, beginning December 21, 2018.
