In 2021, YouTube videos related to speedruns were viewed more than seven billion times, and the community shows no sign of slowing down. A new report published by YouTube’s culture and trends team examines the growth of the speedrunning category within the platform’s larger gaming community and looks at the most-uploaded games, popular videos, types of content and much more.

YouTube says the top three most-viewed speedrunning games are ones that are already the three most popular on the platform: Minecraft, followed by Grand Theft Auto V, and Roblox.
In addition to the speedrunning report, YouTube is also recognizing World Video Games’ Day with an all-new Yoodle (YouTube’s version of a Google Doodle; a themed YouTube logo design or experience) designed to celebrate the huge trend on YouTube’s platform.

- In 2021, uploads of videos by channels in the speedrunning community were 40 percent higher than the year before
- There are more than 400 channels in the speedrunning community, with over 100 of them located in the U.S. alone
- Most popular speedrunning channels include creators EasyPeezy, DarkViperAU, Karl Jobst, ProfessorBiggy and HeyRosalinaSpeedruns
