Introduction/Information about Battlestar Galactica: Scattered Hopes

Battlestar Galactica: Scattered Hopes is a game that was recently released May 11th, 2026. In this tactical strategy roguelite game, players will take command of their small fleet and escape what feels like certain annihilation for the Twelve Colonies. They must manage different situations and crises on board their ship, making many difficult choices on the way all in order to survive, all in hopes to rejoin Battlestar Galactica. I usually enjoy strategy games, so I was interested to see what this game had to offer. When playing through the game, I definitely was enjoying the tactical battles with how much you can do, however, there were certain times where it felt like a lot of information to remember and take in that it became a bit overwhelming. After playing through Battlestar Galactica: Scattered Hopes, I would say that this game has fun tactical combat with an overwhelming amount of options to take on whatever situation that may arise.

Gameplay

The gameplay for Battlestar Galactica: Scattered Hopes will have players strategize their every move. Upon starting the game up, players will see very quickly the situation they are in as what seems like endless amounts of enemies come to attack their base of operations. Here, players learn how to fight back and protect themselves. At their disposal, they will have different ships and weapons. Ships and weapons come in a different variety. In terms of ships to start out with, players will have 2. The first is a standard ship that can both target and follow an enemy within its sights. When I was playing, I noticed that these were the ships I prioritized taking care of. The second ship acts as a sniper, shooting very distant targets with minimal movement. Players can select these ships to move and target enemies wherever they need. The weapons players have can be used by the base.

The base can be equipped with different types of weapons to deal with any situation the player may face, including nukes that can take out anything in its radius. Something that was very helpful when playing was being able to pause time mid fight. When paused, I was able to prepare the actions and give the orders I needed, so this felt integral. The goal of most of these fights is to survive long enough to escape. When players are not fighting off enemies, they will need to take care of their base, making different and sometimes difficult choices that can end up hurting them instead. They can also level up their artillery. Doing this will give players 1 of 3 different new abilities to choose from. Each level up gives different abilities, so make sure to think carefully before deciding. When I was playing through, the amount of options as well as the difficulty of certain decisions I had to make felt a bit overwhelming, however I also think it’s better to have too many options then not enough, which is something this game definitely provided.

Final thoughts

Overall, I believe Battlestar Galactica: Scattered Hopes is a fun tactical strategy game that, at certain points, would start to get overwhelming. While the number of options and things I had to keep in mind felt overwhelming to me, I can see many strategy game fans playing this game and enjoying all of it. I think if you are a strategy game fan who is looking for a very thought-provoking tactical game experience, then I would recommend trying out this game. Players can get Battlestar Galactica: Scattered Hopes right now for PC via Steam.
