Capcom’s Summer Game Fest 2024 Showcase is a Show to Remember

Major announcements were revealed by CAPCOM for Monster Hunter Wilds, Street Fighter 6, and Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess during the Summer Game Fest kickoff event.

Viewers of the Summer Game Fest livestream were given a closer look at the Hunter’s journey into the Forbidden Lands in the most recent Monster Hunter Wilds trailer, “The Hunter’s Journey.” This trailer showcased the vibrant characters and the enigmatic crescent-shaped mountain that players will come across as gameplay seamlessly merges with story moments. The local species, especially the dangerous new Balahara Leviathan monster, showed how hunters need to adapt and use new skills to coexist in the unstable conditions of the Windward Plains region as the hunter ventures deeper into uncharted territory. An even bigger hazard was spotted darting beneath the billowing sand clouds during the violent lightning storms that signal the beginning of the bountiful monsoon season and the hard dry season.

Producer of the Monster Hunter series Ryozo Tsujimoto joined Geoff Keighley on stage to announce that Monster Hunter Wilds will allow cross-platform play on PCs running Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PCs. Kindly go to the official website to obtain additional details. Tsujimoto also said that Monster Hunter Wilds will be playable for the first time on the gamescom 2024 exhibition floor, and Capcom will present its next teaser at gamescom Opening Night Live, exciting fans who were impatiently awaiting the highly anticipated title’s 2025 release.

The Windward Plains’ untamed beauty

Hunters and native species alike must exercise caution when navigating the Windward Plains’ sandy dunes to avoid becoming victims of the recently discovered Balahara’s quicksand traps. Numerous packs of massive creatures, like the Balahara, which are shown in the teaser tracking and subduing the previously revealed Doshaguma, can be found in the Forbidden Lands. These mucus-secreting leviathans use their serpentine bodies to help them move through the ground with agility, launch strikes at their enemies, and set up traps that can tip the odds of battle in their favor. Territorial disputes amongst these strong beasts can flare up at any time as they try to carve out a niche for themselves in this harsh habitat. A mystery apex predator lurks in the area’s periodic sandstorms, preparing to shock its prey with an electric fury.

A Flowing Universe of Extremes

The dynamic and captivating story of the hunter commanding the Forbidden Lands Research Commission as they explore diverse ecosystems full of creatures and harsh surroundings is told in Monster Hunter Wilds, which skillfully transitions between story scenes and gameplay. Hunters embark on a mission to discover the various mysteries hidden within the Forbidden Lands, including the enormous mountain shaped like a crescent that towers over the countryside, after disembarking from their ship and sailing toward the Windward Plains. Players will be forced to cooperate with other Hunters on that quest to learn more about the relationship between this planet and the people who live in it while defending themselves against brand-new, terrifying enemies.

A playable demo of Monster Hunter Wilds will be available on the gamescom 2024 show floor, along with more details about the game during Opening Night Live.

It will also be available on Xbox Game Pass for console, PC, and Cloud. The game is currently available for pre-order for PC via Steam, Xbox, and PlayStation.

Players take on the role of the protagonist Soh in this distinctive, graphically stunning, and Japanese-inspired game. Together with the Maiden Yoshiro and the rescued peasants, they must utilize their dancing sword skills and quick thinking to face the obstacles that lie ahead. Explore the town during the day and clear the defilement by saving the residents and strategically allocating roles and locations to aid in the nighttime attack on the Seethe. The villagers will battle with Soh through the night to defend Yoshiro from the Seethe swarm. The Spirit State and new gameplay with a festering Seethe were shown in the trailer. Soh will enter a Spirit State when his health runs out, preventing him from fighting and allowing the player to merely direct the villagers to defend Yoshiro. Working with your villagers is essential, as the Festering Seethe will summon hordes of Seethe. Players will be able to experience the dramatic fusion of strategy and action in both scenarios. Take on the powerful Festering Seethe, cleanse the community of its impurities, and restore tranquility to the mountain.

Exclusive in-game goods, such as the Mazo Talismans “Walking Basket” and “Astral Projection,” which can be equipped to Soh, will be sent to pre-orderers along with a digital mini artbook including never-before-seen concept art made specifically for the game.
