Earthfall: Alien Horde Review for Nintendo Switch

Earthfall: Alien Horde is a first-person shooter by developer Nimble. In it, you play as part of a squad of four fighting off . . . some sort of alien mutants.  While the name is ‘Alien Horde,’ the enemies you fight are monsters, not humanoids with laser guns.

The game has 2 modes: Campaign and Invasion. Campaign mode is essentially a series of missions. These missions mainly boil down to either: go to place X, get item X, or hold out against waves of enemies for a set amount of time. All throughout these missions you are constantly assaulted by an unending stream of enemies. This mode actually reminded me a lot of a game called Left For Dead.

Invasion mode, on the other hand, is reminiscent of modes such as Call of Duty’s “Nazi Zombie” mode. On every map you see how many waves of enemies you can hold off until they overwhelm you. Each map has different placements of healing stations and weapon printers, and both of these require points to use. As expected, these points are earned based on how many enemies you kill.

Earthfall: Alien Horde also has online multiplayer for up to 4 people, but I wasn’t able to test it because no one was online whenever I tried to play.  If you’re playing either mode alone, the game gives you 3 computer-controlled allies to assist you.

Overall, I thought Earthfall: Alien Horde was well put together. As such, I think a fair rating for it is 7.5/10.
