Today, Girls Make Games and Zynga Inc., a global leader in interactive entertainment and a wholly-owned publishing label of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc., announced that the 2025 Summer Camp Program will be held at Zynga’s San Mateo Headquarters. Beginning July 7, students between the ages of 8 and 18 are welcome to visit Zynga’s campus to work with industry mentors and counselors to create and build their own video game. Campers will get an understanding of the foundations of game design and production while collaborating in groups to produce a finished showcase game.
Laila Shabir, Founder and CEO, Girls Make Games stated, “We’re thrilled to bring our students back to Zynga’s headquarters and are grateful for their commitment to investing in the next generation of developers.”
Established in 2014, Girls Make Games provides workshops, game jams, and summer camps to encourage the upcoming generation of programmers, designers, and creators. Through seminars and camps, the initiative has touched 6,400 girls; through tutorials, games, and online resources, it has reached over 23,000 girls. As a proud partner of the organization, Zynga has supported the GMG Scholarship Fund through its Employee Resources Group, Women at Zynga (WAZ), hosted summer camp sessions, and taken part in mentorship initiatives. With 11 chapters in Zynga studios across the globe, WAZ has more than 600 active members who work together to create a community of support through events, leadership development, mentoring, and other means.
The Bay Meadow neighborhood of San Mateo, California, is home to Zynga’s headquarters, which debuted in 2022. In addition to offering a central location for the more than 350 Bay Area-based employees from a variety of specialties, the offices were created to maximize Zynga’s hybrid Connected Workplace concept.
