Gone are the sparkly vampires of the Twilight series as the undead blood-suckers in this war-strategy driven game are lean, mean, conquering machines. Developed by Palindrome Interactive and published by Kalypso Media Digital, Immortal Realms: Vampire Wars is not your average turn-based strategy game as this love child of gothic myth and a sexy game of chess combines beautiful art, fascinating characters, and intricate war tactics. If a mind-numbing pastime is what you are looking for, then this will not be the game for you as one false move may mean the difference between a successful empire, or your downfall. So, sharpen your wits and your fangs before you start and show the denizens of the land what true power looks like.
The undead are the top apex predators of the land, but this power also invites competitors and dissenters of both monsters and humans alike. As their overlord, you will need to ensure the land remains under your claim lest it falls away and your territory shrinks. With every battle you win, you will be awarded cards and action points that you can use to build and customize your army to your best interests. Remember, as their strengths grow, so do yours.
This action RPG is about strategy and the more you play, the more you will learn how to navigate the rules and even how to bend them to your advantage. The best place to begin would be with trying out the tutorial. This will tell you learn the basics and how to familiarize with the battle and card systems, and how to expand your army. While the campaign section of the game will delve more into the story of the three undying clans, you can always try for the sandbox option. This option will allow you to play and conquer to however you see fit without having to follow the storyline. Just follow the main objective while also doing your best to advance your domination. You don’t even need to play as a vampire of the Dracul clan as you will have the option to select other members of the undead to utilize. With the numerous cards, abilities, and ways to strategize, the possibilities are as limited as you allow your imagination to be.
Not only will this game suck your time away with all that you will end up doing and planning, but you will also be held captive by the mesmerizing artwork that is utilized in almost every aspect of the game. The small attention to details such as the grass swaying in the wind or the reflection of moonlight bouncing off manor walls are what really help set the tone of the world you play in. Just remember to keep your mental prowess at its peak as Immortal Realms: Vampire Wars is not to be played with a fatigued mind.
PROS: Gorgeous artwork, vampires/undead badasses, and your brain will go into maximum overdrive.
CONS: Gameplay is confusing at first and can involve plenty of trial and error before obtaining a full grasp on the card system and resource management.

Video games have always been a huge influence in my life and have definitely shaped me to who I am today . Some of my best memories growing up were the many adventures and stories I was able to experience and become immersed in. If my hands aren't either covered in clay, typing, editing, creating, or helping shoving food in my mouth, they would either be gripped to a controller, tapping away at the screen of my phone, or clicking away on my PC. I am always up for trying something new because why live just one life when you can live many.
