OUTER TERROR Indie Horror Game Heading to Consoles April 12

VoxPop Games Inc. has announced that Outer Terror, the hit indie horror game, will be coming to consoles on April 12th, 2024. The game was released on PC via Steam last year and received critical acclaim (Check out our 9/10 Steam review!). It was recently nominated for “Best Hidden Gem” by the New York Video Games Critics Circle. Outer Terror will be available on Xbox X/S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and the Nintendo Switch.

Co-founder and COO of VoxPop Games, Marc Anthony Rodriguez, who served as Executive Producer for Outer Terror, said, “Outer Terror is a testament to VoxPop’s commitment towards elevating indie developers to greatness. We are proud to bring this tremendous indie hidden gem to the wider purview of home entertainment consoles and an entirely new global audience.” He also added, “Through our publishing partnership with Ratalaika Games, this will be the first VoxPop Games property on consoles and we couldn’t be more excited. As we level up our new middleware platform and our university initiative, we welcome all partnerships with new and up-and-coming studios and independent game makers who know they have something special and want VoxPop to enhance their voices.”

In Outer Terror, you will have the option to choose from 10 unique survivors, each with their own personality, weapons and special skill attacks. You will have to fight through endless waves of otherworldly terrors, whether you are playing alone or with a friend. Each time you play Outer Terror, you will have a different experience with randomized weapons and upgrade choices, enemy patterns, and areas of the map. You cannot count on the safe zone being in the same spot as last time, so you’ll need to fight your way through enemies to find it with each playthrough.

The game is packed with Lovecraftian evil and is brutal, campy, and surreal. It is a well-crafted homage to the golden age of horror comics and the B-movies of the 80s and 90s. VoxPop Games and console publisher, Ratalaika Games S.L., are getting ready to knock your socks off.

Each volume in Outer Terror brings a new storyline and gameplay scenario, with each run becoming increasingly difficult. This will remind players that they should not die. The experience of playing Outer Terror will be as if you’ve jumped right onto the pages of a living comic book.

OUTER TERROR Indie Horror Game Heading to Consoles April 12

VoxPop Games’ new peer-to-peer games distribution and development platform is launching its first console game called “Outer Terror.” The platform is designed to pay multiple stakeholders, including developers, artists, and voice actors, directly from VoxPop.

The middleware toolset provided by VoxPop allows game developers to use equity in their games as a resource for both team profit-sharing and launch marketing.

Outer Terror features pixelated bullet-hell styled chaos where players combine weapons and automatically fire as they wade through unrelenting waves of enemies. Players must keep moving to survive. There are 10 survivors to choose from in the game, reminiscent of classic horror protagonists. Players can level up their attributes and teach them new skills to make enemies go “splat.” Players can choose from multiple game modes, including solo story mode, completing side quests alone, or playing with a buddy in co-op.

Outer Terror has roguelite elements, making each playthrough its own bloody adventure with randomized weapon buff pick-ups, upgrade options, maps, and even enemy paths. The game is a classic throwback, with players able to play through five volumes of stories inspired by classic horror comics and films. Boss battles are tearing straight out of a Lovecraftian yarn.

Outer Terror launches for Xbox X/S, PS4/5, and Nintendo Switch for $9.99 USD on April 12, 2024.
