Outright Games Unwrapped – BLAZE AND THE MONSTER MACHINES: AXLE CITY RACERS

We tried our hands on Blaze and the Monster Machines: Axle City Racers, a game coming out by developers 3D Clouds and publisher Outright Games during the OG Unwrapped, which is based on the show Blaze from Nickelodeon and includes all the original voice cast.

Blaze and the Monster Machines: Axle City Racers Key Features:

  • BE BLAZE and 6 more heroes including Starla, Pickle, and Crusher
  • RACE WITH FRIENDS in 4-player split-screen mode
  • POWER UP with speed boosts, upgrades, and unique character abilities
  • WIN THE CUP at the Axle City Grand Prix, the Monster Dome, and more
  • AUTODRIVE with optional simple controls for younger players

We tried out a couple of Tournament events and tutorial playthrough during the hands on session. There are multiple different Monster machine options and each machine has a different abilities which are taken from the show. The mechanics are very simple for the younger generation, where you drive through tracks and collect wrench pickups and at 10 pickups players can use special abilities. There are ways to use boost is like Mario Kart like drift mechanics which gives temporary instant boost. And then there are jump ramps.

As player move through different tournaments the difficulties of tracks changes with more twist and turns. And there is an additional Autodrive feature for kids to utilize so all they can do is just do drifts but can override the steering controls if needed. There is couch co-op option available for players to try out as well.

Blaze and the Monster Machines: Axle City Racers is coming out on October 16, 2021 and will be available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One | Series S and PC via STEAM. 3D Clouds has worked in collaboration with the show production to utilize original assets and keep the graphics as close to the show as possible. Blaze and the Monster Machines: Axle City Racers is targeted for a very young audience.
