CipSoft, the innovative developer of the genre-defining 1997 MMORPG Tibia, is announcing Persist Online, its newest MMORPG. With its initial Steam Early Access release, Persist Online will introduce a zombie-infested, post-apocalyptic open world to PC gamers.
CipSoft is putting all of its experience in creating fantastic multiplayer games into Persist Online, the studio’s first massively multiplayer online role-playing game for PC in nearly 30 years. With zombies, firearms, and baseball bats in place of orcs, mages, and spells, Persist Online is a truly retro MMORPG that aims to give players as much freedom as possible while uniting hundreds of players on a persistent server.

Benjamin Zuckerer, Lead Product Manager stated, “The true charm of an MMORPG lies in the diverse interaction possibilities among players and the unpredictable stories that emerge from them. Decades of operating Tibia have continually shown us this. It’s why we believe a good multiplayer game can only be created together with the community, and even before the Early Access period, we will regularly organize game tests. Persist Online began as a hobby project and is the brainchild of two long-standing CipSoft employees. We just started developing the game we wanted to play ourselves. The core team now consists of 14 people and has access to all departments and the entire expertise of the company.”
Persist Online Key Features:
- Masses of Players and Zombies: In a vast open environment, team up with other survivors to fight mutant bosses and repel zombies. Together, hundreds of players can enjoy (and survive) this hostile environment in this persistent online world without instances.
- Friends, Foes, and Temporary Allies: Be wary of other players seeking PvP activity, or organize guilds to jointly defend strategically significant areas in order to gather resources more quickly. Additionally, friendly fire is active, so be mindful of that as well!
- Boomsticks, Frying Pans, and Fishing Nets: Use a range of looted or made weapons—each of which can be upgraded—to fend off enemies, whether they be zombies or other players. Put points into the fishing talent on the skill tree to give the fishing net the ability to paralyze foes, or use a strong shotgun to blast the undead to smithereens.
- An Unforgiving Open World: Not only is this globe vast, but it is also vast in intricacies. Every building is reachable, and the gameplay can be significantly impacted by a dynamic day and night cycle.
Persist Online will be made available via Steam Early Access for Windows, macOS, and Linux. Put the game in your wishlist right away.
