Steam Next Fest: PAINKILLER Drops Demo Plus New Gameplay Overview Trailer

Would you like to sample Purgatory? The first online demo of Painkiller for Steam Next Fest has begun and will be available until October 20th thanks to Saber Interactive’s 3D Realms label and developer Anshar Studios! Play offline or online cooperatively with up to two others, unleash deadly weapons like the Electrodriver and Stakegun, and battle against hordes of demons in ruthless, fast-paced combat.

Today’s “This Is Painkiller” Overview Trailer gives you a sneak peek at the fierce cooperative gameplay, devastating weaponry, strong skills, enormous bosses, and more that await you in this sinister reinterpretation of the beloved action franchise.

Steam Next Fest: PAINKILLER Drops Demo Plus New Gameplay Overview Trailer

Painkiller Key Features:

  • Purgatory Is Your Playground:Using a variety of both new and vintage Pinkiller weaponry, players must jump, hook, and dash over expansive, spine-tingling biomes while engaging in fast-paced, violent combat with terrifying foes.
  • Three-Player Online Co-op:Play online with up to two friends while discovering mysteries, exploring various locales, and battling fearsome foes.
  • Grotesque Terrors Await:Face a range of terrifying enemies, including giant monsters like the Nephilim, Azazel’s hideous progeny, and legions of demons.
  • Unleash The Pain: Tarot cards can be used to improve your skills, level up to increase your arsenal, and form alliances with other players to destroy all of your enemies.
  • Choose Your Character Wisely:Choose from four unique characters—Ink, Void, Sol, and Roch—each with special abilities to increase your damage, power, energy, and health.
  • Rogue Angel Mode: Separate from the main game, survive this harsh roguelike mode where you and your pals must battle huge bosses, move through constructed arenas, and gather tarot cards, weapons, and other stuff.

The “Iron Crusade” pre-order bonus skin pack is included with every pre-order. Major shops are also offering the Standard Edition physical edition for pre-order on the Xbox and PlayStation. Physical pre-orders also include the “Burnished Pride” weapons pack, which comes with extra gold weapon skins, in addition to the “Iron Crusade” pack.

You can play the demo now before Painkiller launches on Oct. 21, 2025, on SteamPlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S
