The life of a Smurf should be carefree, easy, and filled with fun days under the sun. The most a Smurf would ever have to worry about was how to find the next best napping spot and how to avoid Jokey’s many pranks. Life would’ve been a paradise if it wasn’t for a dastardly wizard named Gargamel and his infectious Vileafs! Developed by OSome Studio and published by Microids, The Smurfs- Mission Vileaf is a wacky adventure with game mechanics inspired by exploration-type games and 3-D platformers. Fun for all ages and easy to jump back into, you will be having a Smurftastic time before you know it.
The Vileafs are dark, ensnaring, and oppressive plants that are quickly taking over the forest that surround Smurf Village. Grass, flowers, and even the mushrooms can be affected, which can also lead to areas becoming blocked off with infection. It was only due to the Smurf’s quick thinking and Papa Smurf’s clever observation were they able to discover a cure. With Handy’s revolutionary invention, the Smurfizer, the cure can be sprayed onto the infected vegetation, healing them, and returning them back to their original state. Unfortunately, sometimes just a small spray won’t work, and a little extra thinking will be needed.
Tricky jobs will require smart solutions as not everything can be resolved with the help of the Smurfizer. Luckily, The Smurfs- Mission Vileaf is filled with helpful hints and tutorials to allow players to better understand the controls. If having too many hints makes the game too easy, there are three different difficulty levels to choose from so anyone from a beginner to a pro, can find something they like. You also won’t have to worry about getting bogged down by all the explanations as players can skip cut scenes. Even while communicating via walkie-talkie, players can still continue moving around while listening to the varying unique Smurf characters talk.
It’s truly a dangerous task to undertake as not only is the infection widespread, but many strange enemies have also been appearing and Smurfs have gone missing. It’s up to a few brave volunteers to help put an end to the mischievous wizard’s plan and cleanse their land. These Smurfs must venture forward by jumping on bouncy mushroom tops, creating bridges, or flying through the air. They may be small, but they certainly are filled with Smurf moxie and aren’t afraid to show it.
Easy to learn, and enjoyable to play, The Smurfs – Mission Vileaf is a great game to pass the time or to relax to after a long day. Whether you are a Smurfs fan, or not, there is still something magical about being able to revive the lush lands and work alongside these whimsical characters. So, strap on that Smurfizer and get ready to bring the green back, it’s going to take more than some rotten veggies to take down the Smurfs.
PROS: Great for all ages, good replay value, fun sound design and game mechanics.
CONS: Could have been longer, starts off a bit slow.
SCORE: 8/10

PlayStation Review
Video games have always been a huge influence in my life and have definitely shaped me to who I am today . Some of my best memories growing up were the many adventures and stories I was able to experience and become immersed in. If my hands aren't either covered in clay, typing, editing, creating, or helping shoving food in my mouth, they would either be gripped to a controller, tapping away at the screen of my phone, or clicking away on my PC. I am always up for trying something new because why live just one life when you can live many.
