Turnip Boy Robs a Bank Review for Steam

The long awaited sequel to Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion is finally being released. Turnip Boy Robs a Bank, by developer Snoozy Kazoo and publisher Graffiti Games, brings back our favorite little turnip in another cute and fun 2D shooter game but this time it’s all about robbing a bank. You play as Turnip Boy, who has teamed up with the Picked Gang, to commit more felonies by robbing a bank, multiple times. In this game, you will shakedown hostages, steal precious valuables, find weapons, and use tools bought off the dark web to move further into the building and uncover the secrets of the Botanical Bank. Will you be able to pull off a successful heist.. or, well, heists as our little turnip friend?

Turnip Boy Robs a Bank Review for Steam

When you start Turnip Boy Robs a Bank, you are asked a few questions from three magic eyeballs. The questions are simple such as if you have played the previous game as well as the play style you’d like to use in this game. There are two styles to choose from, play style A is for a more relaxed experience, and play style B is for a harder experience if you want a challenge. After answering the questions, a fun cutscene plays, depicting Turnip Boy getting picked up by the Pickled Gang. When you get to the home base the pickle boss Dillitini gives you a rundown on how to play the game including how to attack with left click, how to shake people down for their money using E, and how to dodge roll using right click. Once Dillitini gives you the rundown of how to properly rob a bank you hop into the van and head to the bank where you are given two minutes to find as much money as you can and get out before the cops make it to the bank. You run around the first two rooms shaking down hostages and fighting security then you come up to an elevator that takes you to a random floor each time so you never know where you will end up. This adds another layer to the fact that you have to rob the bank so many times, you’ll never get bored. After your first run you can buy things from the dark web, then eventually you can steal and upgrade weapons and get drugs to help you during the robbery. Each time you go into the bank is a new experience as there is even more to explore and uncover in the full release of this cute and chaotic game.

Overall, while the base of the game is pretty much the same as the demo (check 0ut my preview!), there have been some additions and refinements. There seems to be more people in the bank that you can talk to and interact with. This adds to not only more gameplay but also adds to the overall world itself by being able to talk to ordinary people just existing in the bank while you happen to be robbing it, besides that most of the text prompts are also pretty funny. The way features such as the dark web and enhancements are introduced is mostly the same but a little sped up as well as the layout of the main base is a little different. On top of that the issues I had in the demo have been improved, there is still some lag but not nearly as noticeable as when I played the demo.
Turnip Boy Robs a Bank is a cute but also chaotic action game where you play as a little turnip who robs a bank, many many times. While in the bank you shakedown hostages, steal precious valuables, find weapons, and complete various tasks. Later on you can use items from the dark web and drugs to improve your chances and increase your take. There is a lot for you to explore and uncover within the bank on your journey to commit as many crimes as possible. I am giving this game a 8 out of 10 because it is a fun and chaotic game with a cute little turnip who commits crimes, what is there not to love?

You can wishlist Turnip Boy Robs a Bank for PC via Steam. The game is slated to release January 18, 2024.
