UNO! Review for Android

UNO! Review for Android

Whether it be at parties, sleepovers, kickbacks, or just for a good time, UNO, has been entertaining friends and families for years. Easy to learn and fun to play, there was only one small problem; it requires more than one player. However, now diehard fans can satisfy their UNO urge as this classic card game has gone digital and can be found on your smartphone’s play store! No longer do you need to wait for the next party to whip out your colorful card packet or ask your friends if they want to play again for the tenth time, you will always have willing players on UNO! by Mattel163.

This app game is a great way to occupy your time and the feeling of decimating the person next to you with a draw four card is just so satisfying. UNO isn’t so much a game of skill so much as it is a game of luck. Yes, you do need to have good sense of probability, but any player has a chance to rise to the top. With UNO!, coins are needed to be able to continue to play with others. To obtain coins, all you need to do is login daily and beat other players. If you want to spice up from the original game this app also has different versions that you may try your hand at. Tournaments, versus, or 2 on 2, it’s all at the touch of a finger.

With that being said, the fun and novelty fade away after about a couple of days. Aside from wanting to collect the daily coin rewards, there isn’t much incentive to keep on playing. UNO! is certainly helpful in combating boredom and killing time, but not much else. Due to the fast pace of the game, you also don’t interact with other players much apart from sending them cute emoticons during rounds. So, even though you aren’t playing by yourself or just with an AI system, it still feels like you are. Without the strong desire to continue to play, this game easily stales and fades away behind all the other busy apps on your phone.

Similar to a cheesy movie reboot, the UNO! game app does not surpass the classic version. Even with its modern makeover and additions it still falls short. There isn’t anything terrible about this app, however there also isn’t anything exciting about it either. Buying the actual card pack would be a better investment as playing with others in a social environment is what enhances the full experience of UNO.

PROS: Has everything you love about UNO, cool to be able to play with others if you don’t have anyone else to play with.

CONS: Gets boring quick, nothing compelling to keep the app around or to continue to play.

Video games have always been a huge influence in my life and have definitely shaped me to who I am today . Some of my best memories growing up were the many adventures and stories I was able to experience and become immersed in. If my hands aren't either covered in clay, typing, editing, creating, or helping shoving food in my mouth, they would either be gripped to a controller, tapping away at the screen of my phone, or clicking away on my PC. I am always up for trying something new because why live just one life when you can live many.
