Whilst the desktop is certainly the most powerful option when it comes to running games, there is no doubt that gaming laptops are becoming more and more popular as the years move on. With the introduction of 5G as well, gaming whilst on the move is going to become much easier, and as such, having a laptop that you can use makes a lot of sense moving forward. Of course, now that there is such a variety, how do you go about choosing the laptop which is right for you? Keep reading to find out.
Consider the GPU You Need
The GPU that your gaming laptop needs will depend entirely on the games that you intend to play on it. For instance, if you are playing:
Entry Level Games
If the games you are playing do not need to be played on the highest setting, for instance, some that have more of a classic feel to them like when you play bingo online, then you will be able to consider getting a GTX 1650 or an RX 5500M. This will let you play most games but simply on a lower setting. These models will only set you back around £700 – £900, which is cheap in terms of gaming laptops.

There are some great middle-of-the-road options that will let you play more of the mainstream games on a much higher setting. These are the kinds of laptops you need if you are gaming competitively and want to be able to see every intricate detail. They are naturally quite expensive and come round to about £1,000 to £1,350.
VR and the Highest Setting
These are the PCs that are absolutely essential if you are looking for the most immersive gaming possible. They will let you play in high-power settings and also allow for simple VR integration, which is becoming more and more popular as the technology that is going into AR and VR games develops.
What You Should Pick When Choosing a Display
A display is also very important when it comes to choosing a gaming laptop. There are some aspects that you should consider when you are picking, which include:
Size
Again, this will come down to the kinds of games that you intend on playing. Most laptops have a 15 – 17-inch screen, whereas others have larger ones that will be better if you want to fully immerse yourself in a game.
Resolution
When you are choosing a resolution, you should ensure you don’t pick anything less than a 1920 x 1080 display. It’s pretty rare to find one with lower resolution but ensure you stay away from them in the interest of the quality of your gaming.
Avoid Touch Screens
Finally, you should avoid touch screens when it comes to picking your gaming laptop. Whilst they may not be inherently bad, they are unnecessary when it comes to gaming and can end up killing your battery life and making your screen appear overly glossy.
